The Second Annual
Math & Science Summer Experience
July 14-17, 2008

The College of Science and Technology at Bloomsburg University is proud to announce the second annual summer experience for girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  Middle school students (boys and girls entering grades 6, 7 and 8 in the fall) are invited to apply for a week-long experience titled Math & Science Summer Experience (MSSE).  The Math & Science Summer Experience provides an avenue for students to develop their science and math ability and interest.  Each student will have an opportunity to explore science and math through classroom presentations, hands-on activities, and math and science demonstrations. The goal of the Experience is to encourage students who are considering careers in fields which will utilize science and math and to inform them about the necessary preparations for college for success in these fields.
Participants will learn about mathematical problem solving, computer programs and Planetary Science. The participants will work with science and mathematics professors and undergraduate students.  MSSE participants will also have the opportunity to work with other students who share their interest in math and science.  The Math & Science Summer Experience will run from 9 am until 4 pm each day.

We have changed the format from last year for the MSSE. A typical day will entail three 1 1/2 hour sessions where students will study:

Students will cover each of these topics each day for 1 and 1/2 hours. At the end of the week, parents will be invited so that students can "show off" their new talents!

All students entering grades 6, 7 and 8 in the fall are invited to apply for the experience. .
