WayPoint features customizable, interactive rubrics to help faculty create exceptional feedback for students in just a few mouse clicks. Feedback can be easily edited to customize a response to an individual student, then printed, emailed, or exported to the gradebook. Finally, determine the outcomes your criteria shouldmatch and begin to collect assessment data for accreditation.

This seminar will examine the blogging tool, Journal LX and the wiki tool, Teams LX within Blackboard. These tools can be used as supplements to both traditional and distance education courses.

Incorporating Video in the Classroom and Beyond: An Introcution to Teaching and Evaluating with Video Technology. Asa Kelley, Media Technician

This session will review the many possibilities for multimedia enrichment in and out of the classroom. Many departments already incorporate video assignments in their class syllabi. This session will help attendees become familiar with the services available on campus and streamline the process for themselves and their students. Technologies available include: video camera loans; interview room recording; classroom presentation recording equipment; field or practical presentation recording equipment (i.e. student teaching, off-campus business interviews, etc.); iMovie and Final Cut Pro video editing workstations;, "Classes" network drive for submission and/or distribution to students on campus;, Media Site presentation capture and streaming system (through PASSHE);, BloomTube streaming media server for multimedia distributionon the internet (in accordance with 'Fair Use" guidelines); and Apple Xsan file server for video editing workflow.

Do you have software or websites students need to learn how to use or navigate? Do you want students to watch and then do OR have the student interact with the tutorial? Yes, you can create animated interactive tutorials using Adobe Captivate. Currently, the software is availabe in the Instructional Media and Design Center.

The Instructional Media and Design Center offers campus-wide software support for the following:

  • Blackboard, Captivate, Respondus, TurningPoint, Journal LX (Bloog Tool), Teams LX (Wiki Tool), Podcast LX, Expo LX (Portfolio), Wimba Live Classroom and Voice Tools, Wimba Create, WayPoint and Turnitin.
  • Software located only at the Center which they support includes: Articulate (create interactive lessons from PowerPoints), Snag-It (screen caputres), and Mediasite (lecture capture software).
