  • crowd-source solutions; and
  • provide relevant information to all Technical Crew employees at the same time.

Notes Tech Crew Schedules & Scheduling

Scheduling is a balance between event responsibilities and event coordinator requests, and attempts to accommodate student employee out-of-classroom life.

An employee not listed in a shift, rendering the shift unfilled, indicates that either 1) personnel are not required to cover that shift, or 2) personnel are not available to be assigned to the shift because of availability or doing so would exceed an employee's 20 hour per week limitation.

Employee schedule changes to accomodate last minute building events or changes can be made within 72 hours using ShiftPlanning.com without prior direct notification to the employee. Change options within 72 hours will be discussed with the employee prior to scheduling the shift in ShifPlanning.com. Shifts may be cancelled at any time due to event cancellations.

Your Availability

Considerations regarding your availability to work:

  • Includes (but is not limited to): Weekends, weekdays when not in class, internships, test taking, Finals schedule, going home or travelling away from campus, bus schedules, appointments, extra-curricular sports, club sports, activities, meetings, Fraternity/Sorority related activities, other jobs, University programs, weather/man-made emergencies, religious observations, cultural practices.
  • Does not include (but is not limited to): Times during scheduled classes, "I don't wanna work", "My girlfriend/boyfriend/pet/auditory hallucinations doesn't want me to", "The bus broke down", "The bus(ses) don't run during these times", "I have to study for a test/quiz", "I have to finish my homework", "It's too early/late/cold/hot", "I don't have a ride", "I didn't eat breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack", It's snowing/raining.

When there is a choice between going to class or being late for class and responding to clients or events at work, choose going to class EVERY TIME. No questions. Although putting in the extra mile is admirable in “the real world” you are here first and foremost to get an education. Employment is secondary to going to class.

Scheduling Philosophy

The philosophy behind Technical Crew scheduling is that the work done by employees cascades to the other shifts. This is used as a check and balance system to ensure that an event is going to go smoothly with no problems. We want to solve the problems BEFORE the event attendees even enter the room or realize that there was/is a problem.
