Marguerite W. Kehr

Before her retirement in 1953, Dr. Marguerite W. Kehr served as Dean of Women at Bloomsburg State College for 25 years. In addition to her writing and speaking on behalf of student interests and her work as adviser to student organizations, Dean Kehr was a leader among women in higher education. She became the first President of the Bloomsburg Branch of the American Association of University Women in 1930, and served as President of the Pennsylvania Association of Women Deans and Counselors from 1940-41. Dr. Kehr also served as adviser to the U.S. National Student Federation of America from 1930 to 1941, and the U.S. National Student Association from 1947 to 1968. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, her Master of Arts degree from Wellesley College, and her Doctor of Philosophy degree from Cornell University.
